Email list hygiene: a repeatable process

Email list hygiene is the ongoing work of maintaining appropriate, accurate, and usable contact data. It includes acquisition context, suppression handling, duplicate control, verification, and delivery feedback. RefreshList supports inspection and verification, but does not replace permission records, an unsubscribe process, CRM governance, or a sending platform’s suppression list.

Key points

  • Preserve acquisition context.
  • Use actual delivery feedback.
  • Keep suppressed contacts excluded.

Detailed explanation

Merge current exclusions before a send. Afterwards, write confirmed failures and unsubscribe events to the system of record rather than only a temporary export.

Example

An unsubscribed contact stays excluded even when a later check returns valid.

How RefreshList handles it

Exports retain original fields so sources and lifecycle information stay connected.

Limitations

RefreshList does not maintain your global permission register or automatically synchronize every CRM.
